Quarterly Tests
The Chi-Square Test, as described in the
CHI-SQUARE TEST section on page 6-5, may be
performed every time Calibration Test is performed but should be performed at least
quarterly. The Chi-Square Test is performed by repeatedly measuring the Cs137 standard
using the region of interest determined in the test just performed. The measurements are
made for the number of repetitions entered in setup. However, the test can be performed for
a fewer number of repetitions by pressing [ABORT] during a measurement. In order to
calculate Chi-Square, at least 5 measurements should be made (but at least 10 is
recommended). When the test is finished, a report is printed (or displayed on the screen if
there is no printer).
The Minimum Detectable Activity (MDA) Test, as described in the
MDA TEST section on
page 6-
9, should be performed whenever the background activity changes (e.g. the unit is
moved to a new location or a new source of radiation is located nearby).
