The Function keys shown in Figure 13-3 operate as follows:
• F1 [COUNT] Repeats the measurement without saving the background.
• F2 [RANGE] Toggles the display between the spectra of the 1600 keV full scale
range and the 400 keV full scale range.
• F3 [SAVE] Saves both spectra to memory
• F4 [EXIT] Exits background. (Background will not be saved if F3 [SAVE] has
not been pressed)
• PRINT [P] Prints both spectra and prints background counting rate.
For this screen, the Pre-Set Nuclide and USER keys are active. See later sections in this
chapter for the functions of these keys.
MEASURING A WIPE
If the background is saved, the Wipe Test Area Select Screen (Figure 13-5) will appear.

Select the area from which this wipe was taken by pressing the appropriate number key. You
may re-measure background at any time by choosing number 1.
The General Category (6) is for wipes that are not from a location entered in Wipe
Descriptions. Therefore,
Figure 13-6 and Figure 13-7 will be skipped.
After selecting an area, either a list of locations for the selected area will appear (
Figure 13-
6
) or, if there are no locations assigned to the selected area, an error message will appear
(
Figure 13-7).
