Note:
Figure 8-13 calls for “COUNTING REPETITION #1”. Some protocols call for
repetitions of each measurement so that results can be averaged. In such protocols,
all measurements except room background counts are repeated.
Position the Probe over the thyroid gland at the distance shown on the screen and press the
F4 [START] key.
A graph that plots total counts (vertical axis) versus energy levels (horizontal axis) appears
on the screen (
Figure 8-14). The energy scale is marked on the horizontal axis and depends
on the nuclide. The counting period set up in the protocol appears to the right of the graph (in
this example, 60 seconds). The counts per minute value and the plotted points on the graph
are updated each second. (If Live Time was chosen as the Counting Time Base instead of
Real Time, the counting period does not appear on the screen.)
When the counting period is finished,
Figure 8-15 will appear.
