Authentication
When any changes are m ade to aut henticat ion and PI N code on t he scanner side, you will have t o
rem ove the scanner from t he paired device list (called unpairing) and go through the whole process
to re-establish the connect ion.
The scanner allows up t o 16 characters for a PI N code and provides two options for aut hent icat ion:
Enable Authentication with Preset PIN
Read the Use preset PI N barcode, and change the preset PI N if necessary. This m eans you will
have to enter exactly the sam e string for your com put er or PDA t o connect to t he scanner. I f t he
PI N or passkey is incorrect, any connection attem pt will be t urned down by the scanner. See
st ep 8 in
3.2.3 Connect to Dongle.
1) Read the Use preset PI N barcode to enable authenticat ion with a preset PI N.

2) Read one of the barcodes t o specify t he PI N code, in decim al or hexadecim al.
By default , the PI N code is set to 0000. Maxim um 16 characters are allowed.

3) Read the Decim al Value barcode on page 219 or t he Hexadecimal Value barcode on

220 for the desired digits or charact er st ring.
Read the Clear PI N Code barcode first if you need to re- input the PI N code.

Enable Authentication with Random PIN or No Authentication
By default , it is set to No PI N or use random PI N , which depends on t he set t ing of the t arget
device. (No PI N = No authenticat ion.)
