1.2 MEMORY
The scanned data can be sent to a host computer im m ediat ely via t he WPAN connect ion
or st ored in flash m em ory when the scanner is set to Memory m ode.
1.2.1 TRANSMIT BUFFER
By default, the t ransm it buffer is enabled and ready for use when t he scanner is out of
range. Upon reading a barcode successfully wit hin range, the scanner responds with one
short beep ( high tone) and its LED indicat or becom es solid green and goes off. However,
the host com puter m ay not receive the data im m ediat ely if t he scanner is out of range.
With the 2 KB transm it buffer, the scanner can ignore t he t ransm ission st at us and keep
on reading barcodes until the buffer is full.
When transmit buffer is enabled…
I f the scanner is out of range, it will respond wit h t wo short beeps, high-low t one, upon reading a
barcode successfully.
When t ransm it buffer is full, t he scanner will respond with one long beep (low tone) and it s LED
indicator will become solid red and go off. You are advised to get back into range.

If the scanner is out of range, it will respond wit h one long beep ( low tone) and it s LED indicator

Not e: The 2 KB transm it buffer on t he scanner can hold as m any as 128 scans based on
EAN- 13 barcodes. Dat a will be cleared out once the scanner is turned off or
running out of batt ery power!
1.2.2 MEMORY MODE
When t he scanner is in m em ory m ode, it m eans any real-tim e connect ion est ablished
with t he host is disabled. 1663 scanner keeps 4MB flash m em ory for m em ory m ode
operation, which can store over 240,000 scans based on EAN- 13 barcodes.
