SERVO MOTOR CABLES
There are 2 cables connected to each Servo
Motor. Each motor is connected to the Servo
Drive by a “Motor Power” cable. (Illustration 12)
The “Power Cable” sends the voltage, current
and frequency to run the Servo Motor. There are
2 additional wires for motors equipped with the
optional Holding Brake. These wires energize
and de-energize the “Holding Brake.” The
“Holding Brakes” are engaged when
de-energized. There is also a “Resolver
Feedback Cable connected to each Servo
Motor. The “Resolver Feedback” cable sends
“Motor Position” feedback signals to the Motion
Control Units. Some of the Servo Motors
communicate directly to the Motion Control
Modules. Servo Motors that were not
manufactured by Siemens, send the Feedback
first to a Feedback Converter and then to the
Motion Control Modules. The Motion Control
Modules use the Resolver signals to monitor the
position and performance of the Servo Motor.
