SERVO DRIVE SYSTEM
COMPONENT OVERVIEW:
The Servo Drive System is made up of the U3 Active
Line Module, the U4 through U12 Servo Drive
Modules and the different types of Servo Drive Motors
that operate the PowerMax3000
TM
Slicer.
U3 ACTIVE LINE MODULE
The Z1 Filter Module sends the U3 Active Line
Module a 3 phase AC supply voltage. The “U3” Active
Line Controller takes the 3 phase AC supply voltage
and rectifies it to approximately 650 VDC.
(Illustration 45) The 650 VDC is sent to each of the
Servo Drives on the DC Bus Bars located on front of
the Drives. The Servo Drives use this voltage to
operate and control the Servo Motors. The Active
Line Control Module receives an external 24 VDC
Control Voltage from the Z1 Filter Module and
transfers this voltage to all of the Servo Drives.
ADANGER!
The Z1 Filter Module, U3 Active Line Module,
the Servo Drives and the Servo Motors
contain dangerous voltages! Only Qualified
personnel should perform “Service” or
“Troubleshooting” on any of these
components! Always observe the following
precautions:
1. Follow your company's Lockout/Tagout
procedures when performing any
maintenance on your Formax
®
Machine!
(Illustration 47)
2. The DC Bus voltage stored in the
Active Line Module and the Servo
Drives is in excess of 650 VDC. There
are storage capacitors connected to the
DC Bus that can take 5 minutes to
discharge after the power is
disconnected. Wait for the voltage to
drop to “zero” volts before removing
the DC Bus covers or servicing any of
the modules. Refer to the “Servo Drive
Replacement” section for more
information on replacing a Servo Drive.
