AR4 SAFETY INPUT MODULE: The “AR4” Safety Input
Module monitors and reports the status of the normally
open and closed contacts of the SQ1, SQ2, SQ3 and SQ4
“Guard Safety Proximity Switches.” (Illustration 67 and 68)
Each “Guard Safety Proximity” has a normally open and a
normally closed contact. If any of the guards are opened,
the Safety CPU Module will disable all operational
commands from the Computer. The Safety CPU Module
monitors the state of each contact connected to the AR4
Input Module. There is also a “System Fault” (SF) LED that
illuminates when there is a wiring or switch failure in the
components connected to the module.
Guard Inputs: The Guards use a magnetically operated Proximity
Switch to signal the Computer when a Guard opens. When a
guard is closed, the normally open contact in the Proximity will
close and the normally closed contact will open. The AR4 Safety
Input Module sends 24 VDC through each contact for each
“Proximity Switch.” If the contact is in the closed state, the voltage
returns to the Module and illuminates the LED that matches that
terminal. (Illustration 71) The Safety CPU monitors the state of the
voltage signals to determine the status of each “Guard Safety
Proximity Switch.” The status of each “Guard Safety Proximity”
can also be checked on the “Monitor I/O” screen on the “Digital
Inputs” window. (Illustration 69) When the Guard is closed, the
window next to the Guard listing will display “OK (1).”
AR4 LED Information:
SQ1 Knife Guard Proximity:
N.O. Contact - 24 VDC sent from terminal 2 through the
N.O. contact to terminal 1. Turns LED #1
“On” when the guard is closed and “Off”
when the guard is open.
N.C. Contact - 24 VDC sent from terminal 2 through the
N.C. contact to terminal 9. Turns LED #9
“On” when the guard is open and “Off” when
the guard is closed.
SQ 2 #1 Side Access Guard Proximity:
N.O. Contact - 24 VDC sent from terminal 6 through the
N.O. contact to terminal 5. Turns LED #5
“On” when the guard is closed and “Off”
when the guard is open.
N.C. Contact - 24 VDC sent from terminal 6 through the
N.C. contact to terminal 13. Turns LED #13
“On” when the guard is open and “Off” when
the guard is closed.
