Low Capacity Management
As disk capacity is used and free disk space approaches low levels, the ETERNUS CS800
automatically responds in the following ways:
● The Low Capacity condition is activated when the amount of free disk space is less the
following value:
[500GB + 100GB * (total usable capacity in TB / 10TB)]
The Low Capacity condition indicator turns off when free disk space is larger than this
threshold.
● An administrative alert and a service ticket are generated each time free disk space
drops below one of the following threshold values:
● [500GB + 100GB * (total usable capacity in TB / 10TB)]
● 250GB
● 10GB
● When the ETERNUS CS800 enters the Low Capacity condition, space reclamation is
automatically started to free up disk space.
A space reclamation task is initiated every 10 minutes until space reclamation begins.
Space reclamation ends when the ETERNUS CS800 exits the Low Capacity condition.
(Any space reclamation tasks running at that time are allowed to complete.)
● When the ETERNUS CS800 enters the Low Capacity condition, target replication to
the system is paused. Target replication resumes when the ETERNUS CS800 exits the
Low Capacity condition.
● Ingest of backup data is not throttled during the Low Capacity condition unless free
disk space falls below the 10GB threshold. When this occurs, all system I/O stops until
free disk space rises above 10GB.
