Locating the Mounting Position
The ETERNUS CS800 S5 system is designed to fit in a standard 19“ wide rack. It is
important for the chassis installation to locate the hole pattern in the rack rails. You must
allow 2 HU (3.5“) of vertical space for the server module and 2 HU (3.5“) of vertical space
for each storage module installed in the rack.
It is recommended to position the different components of the ETERNUS CS800 S5 system
in the following order:
Entry
The server has to be mounted either immediately above or under the optional JX40 storage
module. If the system is initially used without JX40, it might be useful to preserve an appro-
priate free space (2HU) for storage expansion (see Figure 38 for a graphical represen-
tation).
