Storage Expansion
An existing ETERNUS CS800 system, which is currently equipped with less than the
maximum storage capacity, can be expanded in the field.
Contact your Fujitsu sales representative to purchase the necessary upgrade package.
The procedure of storage expansion differs for Entry and Scale models.
ETERNUS CS800 S5 Entry
The disk capacity of the ETERNUS CS800 S5 Entry model can be enhanced in steps of
4 TB up to a maximum of 24TB.
Procedure of Storage Expansion starting with 4TB
To enhance the capacity from 4TB to 8TB, six additional 2.5” 1TB SATA 7,200 rpm hard
disks must be added to the bays 11 to 16 of the server.

Proceed as follows:
1. Starting with slot 11 (see Figure 394) replace the six blank inserts one after the other by
2.5” 1TB SATA 7,200 rpm hard disks.

CAUTION!
If the system is operating, to avoid temperature rise do not leave any bay empty
longer than necessary.
2. If further expansion (to more than 8TB) is intended, continue with the "Procedure of
Storage Expansion starting with 8TB" on page 602 below.
