Cabling the ETERNUS CS800 S5 System
I
To safeguard backups in the event of a power outage, it is recommended that you
connect the ETERNUS CS800 S5 to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
This chapter provides cabling diagrams for the different ETERNUS CS800 S5 configura-
tions.
Table 19 summarizes the different types of cables used for internal cabling of the offered
ETERNUS CS800 S5 configurations.

Figure 53 shows the cabling of an Entry system.
V
CAUTION!
Ensure that at least one power supply unit of the ETERNUS JX40 storage
subsystem and one power supply unit of the server attached to the subsystem are
connected with the same phase.
I
In order to set up the mains connection of the storage subsystem with phase
redundancy, the two power supply units of each module must be connected to two
different phases or to two different circuits of the rack installation.
Proceed as follows:
1. Server module: Connect a power cable to each power supply (1 in Figure 53).
2. JX40 storage module: Connect a power cable to each power supply (2). At least one
power supply unit should be connected with the same phase than one power supply unit
of the server is connected to.
3. Connect the server module with the JX40 storage module via SAS cable (3).
