7.Ifthereissoilbeneaththesensorlatch,cleanthelatchandtheareaunderthe
latchasshowninthefollowinggure.
a.Withthesensorlatchintheopen(up)position,gentlypullonesideofthelatch
awayfromthebodyofthemonitoringcableuntilthelatchdisengagesfrom
thepegsonbothsides.
b.Moisten(butdonotsaturate)apapertowelwithwater.Removeexcesswater
ifnecessary.
c.Usethemoistenedpapertoweltosoftenandloosenanybulkysoilsonthe
latchandintheareaunderthelatch,thenwipethemoff.
d.Moisten(butdonotsaturate)acleanlint-freeclothwithoneofthecleaning
agents.
e.Usethemoistenedclothtoremoveallvisiblesoilfromthelatchandthearea
underthelatch,withspecialattentiontotheareasshowninthegureabove.
f.Rinsethelatchintapwateruntilallresidualcleaningagenthasbeenremoved.
g.Useacleanlint-freeclothtodrythelatch.
h.Wipethesurfacesofthemonitoringcablewherethelatchwasattacheduntil
allresidualcleaningagenthasbeenremovedasshowninthegurebelow.
i.Useacleanlint-freeclothtodrytheareawherethelatchwasattached.
Donotusepressurizedairorgastodryinsidethesensorport.
j.Ifvisiblesoilremains,repeatthecleaningprocess.
k.Ensureallareasaredrybeforereattachingthesensorlatch.
l.Replacethesensorlatchbypositioningitdirectlyinfrontofthesensorport
intheclosedposition.Slidethelatchoverthesensorportuntilitsnapsinto
positiononthepegsonbothsidesofthesensorportbody.Ensurethatthe
latchopensandclosesfreelyoverthesensorport.Ifthelatchisdamaged,
contactauthorizedservicepersonnel.
8.Moistenacleanlint-freeclothwithwaterandwipethemonitoringcableuntilall
residualcleaningagenthasbeenremoved.
9.Useacleanlint-freeclothtodrythemonitoringcable.
Donotuseexcessivedryingtechniques,suchasoven,forcedheat,orsundrying.
Ensurethatthemonitoringcableiscompletelydrybeforeconnectingasensor
andreturningittopatientuse.
