8.2 Error messages and troubleshooting
Error Cause Remedy
Pressing system open
(only with dispensing version)
The pressing system on the guide roll is not closed in
dispensing mode
Close the pressing system
The pressing system on the feed roll is not closed Close the pressing system
Barcode too big
The barcode is too big for the allocated print area of the
material.
Reduce the size of the barcode or move it.
Barcode error
Invalid barcode content, e.g. alphanumeric characters in a
numerical barcode
Correct the barcode content.
File not found
Requested file is not on the memory card. Check the content of the memory card.
Printhead folded down
Printhead not locked. Lock the printhead.
Printhead too hot
Printhead is overheated.
After a pause, the print job will be continued
automatically.
If the fault recurs repeatedly, reduce the heat level or the
print speed in the software.
Field name exists
Duplicate usage of field name in the direct programming. Correct the programming.
Remove lm
Colour ribbon is loaded although the device is set to direct
thermal printing
Remove colour ribbon for direct thermal printing.
For thermal transfer printing, activate Transfer
printing in the printer configuration or the software.
Out of ribbon
Out of colour ribbon Insert a new colour ribbon.
Colour ribbon melted during printing
Cancel current print job.
Change the heat level in the software.
Clean the printhead.

Inserting the colour ribbon.
Restart print job.
The printer is loaded with thermal material, but the
software is set to transfer printing.
Cancel current print job. Set software to Thermal
printing. Restart print job.
Device not conn.
Programming addresses a non-existent device. Connect the optional device or correct the programming.
No label found
Several materials are missing on the consumable material
strips
Press Repeat until the next material is detected on the
consumable material strip.
The material format set in the software does not
correspond with the actual format.
Cancel current print job.
Change the material format in the software.
Restart print job.
Device is loaded with continuous material, but the
software is set to sections
Cancel current print job.
Change the material format in the software.
Restart print job.
No label size sepc.
The material size is not defined in the programming Check programming.
Read error
Read error when reading from the memory device
Check data on the memory device.
Backup data.
Reformat memory device.
Label too thick
The cutter is unable to cut the material but is able to
return into its home position.
Press Cancel.
Change material.
Cutter blocked
Cutter stays in an undefined position in the material.
Switch off the device.
Remove material.
Switch on the device.
Restart print job.
Change material.
No cutter function
Switch the device off and then on again.

Out of paper
Out of material roll Load material.
Error in the paper feed Check paper feed.
Buffer overow
The data input buffer memory is full and the computer is
still transmitting data
Use data transmission via protocol (preferably RTS/CTS).
Write error
Hardware error
Repeat the write process.
Reformat memory device.
Font not found
Error with the selected download font
Cancel current print job.
Change font.
