Appendix I – Reverse
Network
Appendix I outlines the jumper settings and how to program the access control board with an IP address for
reverse network communication. Reverse network communication requires a license from Keyscan – K-RN or
V-RN. Keyscan’s reverse network mode is designed to operate with an encrypted NETCOM6. With a reverse
network configuration, the first access control unit in the communication loop initiates communication via the
NETCOM6 back to the PC/server with the reverse network communication manager -
Keyscan7ReceiverCommEncryption.
Refer to Keyscan’s Reverse Network NETCOM6/6H Installation Guide and System VII Reverse Network Setup
for complete instructions. Reverse network communication requires firmware 7.95/8.75 or higher and System
VII – version 7.0.11 or higher.
Set System Settings Jumper J16
Set J16 communication jumpers for Reverse Network only on the access control unit connected to the
NETCOM6 as outlined in the table below. Configure J16 on all other access control units in the standard
communication configuration.
