Set IP Address on Access Control Boards
This procedure requires Keyscan’s Hyper Terminal application installed on a PC or laptop that can connect with
the access control unit. Keyscan’s Hyper Terminal application is on the NETCOM Installation CD. You may also
use Windows Hyper Terminal. Note that Windows Hyper Terminal is not available on Windows Vista or
Windows 7. This procedure only applies to the access control unit that is connected to the NETCOM6.
This procedure also requires the serial programming cable supplied with the NETCOM6.
1. Ensure that the access control board has power.
2. Remove the Communication terminal block from TB4 in the lower right corner of the access control board.
• If the Communication terminal block has wires currently connected, note the termination and
disconnect them from the block before continuing.
• If the control board has a ribbon cable plugged into the CB-485/CPB-10 terminal from a
communication board, disconnect the ribbon cable from the control board’s CB-485/CPB-10 terminal
temporarily until you have completed the programming procedures.
3. Connect the 3 loose wires from the serial programming cable to the Communication terminal block as
shown in the diagram on the following page.
4. Plug the Communication terminal block back into TB4 on the access control board. Connect the female
plug of the serial programming cable to the COM port on the PC or laptop.
