Wrist Pin Bushing Installation
The wrist pin bushing has a lubrication hole
through it. This hole MUST be aligned with the
rifle-drilled hole in the rod to allow oil flow to the
wrist pin. If the holes are not aligned, wrist pin,
piston, and connecting rod failure will result.
1. Position the connecting rod, a new wrist pin
bushing and bushing remover/installer
J 37717 in a press.
2. Align the hole in the bushing with the
rifle-drilled hole in the rod and press the
bushing into the rod wrist pin bore.
3. Remove the bushing remover/installer and
reposition the rod assembly in the press with
the wrist pin bushing burnishing broach
J 37718 (Figure 232).
