19.1 Actions before storing machine
19.1.1 Cleaning of enclosure
Clean enclosure of the machine by wiping with soft cloth wetted with alcohol or water.
DO NOT use solvent such as thinner and benzene. Otherwise painting may be damaged.
CAUTION
DO NOT wipe the machine enclosure with disinfectant such as dilute NaClO solution.
Chlorine is generated by decomposition of NaClO. The gas is not only harmful for human
but also damages electric components significantly, resulting in failure of the machine.
Clean and disinfect arterial and venous pressure inlet ports carefully to avoid cross
contamination among patients.
19.1.2 Priming of formalin solution
When the machine is stored for 5 days or more, prime fluid lines with 20% formalin
solution based on the following procedures to prevent microbial growth in the lines:
(1) Prepare 10L of 20 formalin solution in suitable container. If dilution is required,
use water of quality suitable for dialysis.
(2) Supply the solution using pump (not contained in the machine) capable of
supplying the solution at a flow rate of 2000 mL/min and at a water head of 5 to
15m.
(3) Use up prepared solution completely by additional water rinsing for about 20
minutes followed by storing the machine.
