127Pinnacle Systems TARGA 3000
Node Types
There are two types of node in the tree:
• Effects Nodes -- These take a number of inputs (represented as the elements down and to the
right), modify the image, and then create an output which is fed to the node above and to the
left.
• Input Nodes -- These have no inputs, but they generate an output for an effect.
There are two types of effects nodes which are the two effects primitives of the TARGA
3000:
• Compositor -- The compositor takes three inputs and performs the following key functions:
• 2D placement and cropping
• Layer mixing
• Tint and Matte generation
• Chroma key
• Transform -- The Transform node takes two inputs and performs the following key functions:
• Sub-pixel scaling, placement and cropping
• Color correction
There are also two types of input node:
• Graphics Input -- Allow you to use a graphic as part of an effect either for its video channel or
its key channel.
• Timeline Input -- References the video input coming from the timeline. This can be assigned
to Video A if the effect is a filter, or to Video A or B if the effect is a transition
In addition there is an “Empty” node which indicates that there is “space” to attach an
additional node at this point. This is because the number of inputs to the two effects
primitives is fixed by the hardware and does not change.
