Chapter 1: Basic Concepts And Tips
Non-Reliable Real-Time Media
The following is a list of non-reliable real-time media for TARGA 3000:
• Video -- AVI video files compressed by compressors other than TARGA 3000, such as
Cinepak. Video files in non-AVI format, such as .MOV files (QuickTime videos). Video files
in frame sizes that are not in full-frame sizes of NTSC 720 x 486 or PAL 720 x 576, and at the
NTSC frame rate of 29.97 fps or at the PAL frame rate of 25 fps.
• Graphics and Titles -- Graphics and Titles that are not in the list of supported file types, such
as a .wmf graphic.
• Audio -- Compressed .wav files, any audio at a rate or 44.1 or 32 kHz, or any audio format not
in the list of supported audio formats (such as an .aif audio file).
• Transparencies -- Clips that contain keys other than Alpha Channel, or White and Black
Alpha Matte.
• Transitions and Filters -- Transitions other than TARGA 3000 transitions and filters, or other
than Premiere’s Gradient Wipe, Additive Dissolve and Cross Dissolve transitions.
• Other -- Clips with these characteristics: motion, bending, or Premiere’s “garbage matte.”
Non-Reliable Real-Time Constructs
The following is a list of non-reliable real-time constructs for TARGA 3000:
• Video -- Depending on your hard disk array and SCSI Controller, three streams of compressed
video may not play simultaneously without frames being dropped. A project with mixed
NTSC or PAL video clips may cause dropped frames.
• Audio -- Depending on your CPU, 8 or more audio files may not play simultaneously without
frames being dropped.
• Effects -- More than approximately 6 layers of TARGA 3000 effects.
