70 Chapter 4: Basic TARGA 3000 Tutorial With Adobe
— Once video is seen on your output monitor, experiment with the slider controls to see
the effects on the picture quality. You can save slider values to a file with the “Save”
button, and use the “Load” button to set those saved value settings into the TARGA
Settings. When you're done experimenting with the sliders, click on the “Reset”
button to move all of the sliders back to their factor default values.
—From within the PRO ANALOG BREAKOUT BOX tab, click on the VIDEO OUTPUT subtab.
The slider controls here allow you to adjust various aspects of the color for the video
that output from the breakout box. The controls work similarly to those found on a
television.
The slider controls are as follows:
• Contrast -- In a video waveform this is how far the whitest whites are from the blackest
blacks. If the peak white is far away from the peak black, the image is said to have high
contrast. If the peaks are close together, the image will have low contrast (i.e., the image
will look “washed out”). Think of contrast as the overall gain control. This control slider
affects all video output formats.
• Brightness -- This is the amount of overall luminance perceived. Brightness is the
intensity of the video level and refers to how much light is emitted by the display. This
control slider affects all video output formats.
