4.13 Preservation and storage
Proceed as follows if the machine is to be preserved or stored for a
longer period of time:
1 Select a storage location where no hazards are precluded.
2 Place the attachment on wooden planks to prevent it from
freezing.
3 Perform the 2000 service hours of maintenance (annual).
4 Clean and dry all uncoated surfaces thoroughly (e.g. piston
rods).
5 Preserve all uncoated surfaces and bearing points with an anti-
corrosion agent. The protective film must cover the surface
completely.
6 Retract all cylinders.
7 Check the storage suitability of the diesel (min. - 40°C/- 40°F).
8 Fill the fuel and hydraulic oil tanks up to the maximum fill levels.
9 Check that sufficient antifreeze is in the cooling system.
The antifreeze portion must be at least 60% and maximum 65%.
Do not empty the cooling system under any circumstances!
10 Prepare the diesel engine for storage. Observe the instructions
in the engine manufacturer operating manual.
11 Put a label on the engine and on the cab indicating the status
of the machine preservation.
12 If the machine is to be stored at temperatures below - 40°C
(- 40°F) for long periods of time, all LCD displays should be
removed and stored in a weatherproof location.
13 Switch on the air conditioning system regularly:
It must run for at least 30 minutes at the highest fan level at
least once a month. When doing so, open all windows and
doors. This helps the functionality of the air conditioning
system.
