1.7 Responsibilities of the employer
Routine
Tests
Inspection by specialist technician, required for crane or
excavating work
The machine must be thoroughly inspected by a specialist technician,
before initial operation and before operating the machine after
significant modifications
at least once yearly
intermittently depending on operating and company conditions.
A specialist technician in this context is a person who
has extensive knowledge of this machine and the relevant
regulations and guidelines due to specialist training and
through special instructions by SENNEBOGEN
and can assess the safe working condition of the machine.
Inspection by an inspector, only required for crane operation
The following cranes must be tested by an inspector every 4 years:
– Fuel driven vehicle crane
– Location changing fuel driven Derrick
– Truck attachment cranes
The inspector inspection is to be performed in the 13th year of
operation and annually thereafter.
Faults that are detected in recurring inspections must be eliminated
within a suitable time-frame depending on how serious a threat they
pose to safety.
Personnel selection and
qualification
The machine must only be operated and maintained by qualified personnel.
Employ only trained and instructed personnel.
Define responsibility for operation and maintenance.
Comply with the permitted statutory minimum age.
CAUTION
Personnel under training or instruction must remain under constant
specialist supervision while working on the machine.
Work on the machine's electrical equipment may only be carried out
by a qualified electrician.
Work on undercarriage, braking and steerage systems may only be
carried out by specifically trained technicians!
Work on hydraulic systems may only be carried out by personnel
with specific knowledge and experience on hydraulics!
