GENERAL
Two types of ignition systems are found on ROTAX
engines covered by this manual ; both are Capac-
itor Discharge Ignition (CDI) systems. The follow-
ing chart gives the engine types with their
implemented system.
CDI System Identification
Nippondenso
The NIPPONDENSO CDI system has a separate
ignition coil which is mounted on fan housing.
Ignition module is connected to a single ignition
generator coil via a 2-wire connector (BLACK and
BLACK / RED wires).

Ducati
The DUCATI CDI system has a combined ignition
module / ignition coil which are mounted on air
silencer, below carburetor(s).
Ignition module is connected to the ignition gen-
erator coils via a 4-wire connector (GREEN and
WHITE wires).
