Chapter 3 WCDMA Non-Call Mode
Overview
86 WCDMA Options Version 6.20
Overview
The Generator/Analyzer mode of the 4400 provides test and measurement tools
for asynchronous measurements. These are measurements without requiring a
call setup. This test mode offers features required to tune a WCDMA phone, or
user equipment (UE), in a production or high-level service environment. The RF
Signal Generator generates WCDMA signals, CW signals and FM-modulated
signals which can be used for various testing purposes. The RF Analyzer allows
basic WCDMA measurements, e.g. output power, frequency error, modulation
spectrum, Occupied Bandwidth (OBW), Adjacent Channel Leakage Power Ratio
(ACLR) and Spectrum Emission Mask (SEM). In addition the Analyzer also offers
a specific power step measurement, the staircase power measurement, which is
a manufacturer-specific feature.
The description of the Generator/Analyzer mode in this chapter is divided into
the following sections:
RF Generator – This section describes the menu of the RF Signal Generator.
RF Analyzer for modulation quality – This section describes the menu provi-
diding measurement results for assessing the modulation quality.
RF Analyzer for power - This section describes the menu providing power
measurements.
RF Analyzer for spectrum – This section describes the menu providing
different spectrum measurements.
Staircase Power - This section describes the specific power step measure-
ment function available.
Zero-Span-Analyzer - This describes section zero-span measurement func-
tion available.
Common elements of the RF Analyzer menus – This section describes the
softkeys available on the RF Analyzer menus as well as parameter fields
which the RF Analyzer menus have in common.
Parameter menus – The most frequently used parameters can be adjusted to
your needs in the respective generator or analyzer menu. Some additional
parameters are available that affect the generated signal and the measure-
ment views. These parameters can be modified in the parameter menus.
To gain access to the menus of the Generator/Analyzer tool proceed as follows:
1 Go to the Welcome menu (see following picture).
2 Push the marker tab for the corresponding system option (WCDMA).
3 Push the
Gen/Ana softkey.
