Chapter 2 WCDMA Call Mode
System parameters
WCDMA Options Version 6.20
71
Measurement Limits In this parameter menu you can define limits for several measurements returning
values for assessing the UE’s modulation accuracy, e.g. phase error, EVM and I/Q
imbalance. The defaults displayed on this screen correspond to the limits set by
WCDMA specifications. However, you can change the limit values in order to
refine testing requirements and verify adherence to even more stringent require-
ments. The results of these measurements are displayed on the Modulation
Quality menu and, in graphical form, on the Constellation Display.
For details on these modulation quality measurements in call mode refer to
“Modulation Quality test menu” on page 51 and “Constellation Display” on
page 53. For details on modulation quality measurements in non-call mode refer
to “RF Analyzer for modulation quality” on page 90. Furthermore you can set the
limit for the frequency error measurement here. The results will be displayed on
the Basic menu. For further details on this menu refer to “Basic test menu” on
page 46. And you can also set the limit values for receiver quality assessment, i.e.
the BER and BLER measurement limits. The results of these measurements are
displayed on the BER/BLER menu. For further details of this menu refer to “Power
menu” on page 55.
EVM RMS
[%]
The EVM RMS value is an average of all the deci-
sion points (symbols) across a whole measurement
interval.
Limit value according to WCDMA specifications:
17.5 %
EVM Peak
[%]
The EVM peak value indicates the difference
between the measured vectors and the ideal vec-
tors, expressed as a percentage value.
Limit value according to WCDMA specifications:
50 %
Mag Error
[%] RMS
The root mean squared magnitude error is a mea-
surement of the error in the mobile’s transmit sig-
nal size (magnitude) at the decision points.
Limit value according to WCDMA specifications:
17.5 %
