How to read the inner loop test results display
BER/BLER menu This menu allows you to assess the quality of the UE’s receiver offering BER (Bit
Error Rate) and BLER (Block Error Rate) measurements. By way of BER measure-
ment the receiver’s reference sensitivity level can be determined.
To gain access to the BER/BLER menu, select the [BER/BLER] marker tab.
The reference sensitivity level is the mean output power received at the UE’s
antenna port at which the BER value does not exceed 0.001 %. A BER and a BLER
of 0 would be ideal. The BER and BLER measurements provide the ratio (as a
percentage) between erroneous bits (BER) or faulty data blocks (BLER) and the
total number of bits or blocks sent within a data transmission. In order to deter-
mine the error ratio the 4400 sends a known data pattern to the UE in loopback
mode. The UE decodes the data and sends it back to the 4400. The uplink data
transmitted by the UE are then compared to the data sent originally.
TPC Algo
Selection field for the transmit power control algorithm.
Selections possible: Algo 1 or Algo 2.
Step Size
Selection field for the step size to be applied. The
selections possible in this field depend on the selection
you have made in the TPC Algo field. If you have selected
Algo 1, selections 1 or 2 dB are possible. If you have
selected Algo 2, the possible selection is 1 dB.
Ref. Level =
Chan. Power
Shows the reference level, i.e. the channel power in dB.
Step Size
[dB]
Shows the size of each step in dB.
UE Power
[dBm]
Shows the UE power level measured for each step in
dBm.
