Chapter 2 WCDMA Call Mode
Testing User Equipment on WCDMA channels
56 WCDMA Options Version 6.20
The Min. measurement represents the minimum power level supported by the
mobile phone. Setting the UE to its lowest power level is achieved by a combi-
nation of open loop power control (where the 4400’s output power is set to a
high level) and closed loop power control (the mobile is repetitively told to
decrease its power level).
The Max. measurement represents the maximum power level supported by the
mobile phone. The high power level of the phone is the result of the 4400’s
output power being set to a low level and the closed loop power control
commanding the phone to increase its output power.
The Peak and Mean Power measurement determines the peak and mean output
power level of the UE under test.
Selecting the measurement
type
Use the drop-down list on the upper left corner of the measurement screen to
change between UL Target Pwr., Min. and Max. measurements.
The output field indicates the measurement type currently selected. After
selecting one measurement type, completing the measurement and selecting
another type, the results of the previous measurements remain on display. Thus
you can first choose Min. and after that Max. and have both minimum and
maximum output power displayed onscreen.
How to read the TX power test
results display
The statistical evaluation of the measurement results is displayed as current,
minimum, average and maximum values. The bar displays give a graphical repre-
sentation of the test results relative to the measurement limits.
Peak power and mean power values are related to the channel power
Min Power
[dBm]
The minimum power level (in dBm) is measured when the
Min. test has been selected.
Max Power
[dBm]
The maximum power level (in dBm) is measured when
the Max. test has been selected.
Peak Power
[dBm]
Shows the peak output power of the UE under test
in dBm.
Mean Power
[dBm]
Shows the mean output power of the UE under test
in dBm.
Shows the total number of measurements used to
calculate the statistical results.
