Chapter 2 WCDMA Call Mode
Testing User Equipment on WCDMA channels
WCDMA Options Version 6.20

Power level parameters For assessing the receiver’s reference sensitivity level BER values are determined
at certain power levels for the individual bands which are indicated in WCDMA
specifications. In order to perform BER/BLER measurements enter the power
level stated for the relevant band in the Ior parameter field, e.g. –106.7 dBm for
operating band I. The following table gives an overview on the reference sensi-
tivity test parameters according to WCDMA specifications.
Additional test parameters Apart from the basic test parameter fields common to several measurement
menus and displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the screen the BER/BLER
menu includes several BER/BLER-specific parameter fields. These fields offer the
possibility to easily view and, in some cases, alter important test parameters. For
a description of the basic test parameter fields refer to “Test parameters” on
page 39.
RMC This field indicates the Reference Measurement Channel to be used for
measurements after a call has been initiated via the
NB Call Loopback softkey.
By using the Reference Measurement Channel you can fix the variable parame-
ters of a WCDMA signal for measurements. For further information on Reference
Measurement Channel characteristics refer to Table 4 and Table 5 on page 69.
Bit Pattern for RMC This field specifies the bit pattern for the Reference
Measurement Channel. Possible selections are: 0000..., 1111..., 1010..., PRBS-9,
PRBS-15, PRBS-23.
Number of Blocks This field indicates the type of data segmentation to be
used for transmission.
How to read the BER/BLER results display
The BER/BLER results display is subdivided into two results areas:
The BER and BLER measurement results
The UE Measurement Reports
