LOP-LP (Path LO-Loss of Pointer)
The corresponding SNMP name for this condition is “lossOfPointerLowerOrderPath”.
AIDTYPE Default
Severity
Probable Cause Suggested Corrective Action
VC3 CR The incoming
pointer value is in
error (i.e. a valid
pointer value has
not been received
for a given period of
time as defined by
the relevant
standards).
This condition is
typically caused by
either a problem
with the
synchronization of
the incoming signal
or due to an
equipment failure at
the near or far-end
pointer processing
equipment.
1 Verify that the received signal
meets the required specifications
for stability of its timing fence and
for ones-density. Look for
abnormally high rates of pointer
justifications as an indication that
the timing of the signal may be
unstable.
2 Replace the near-end plug
supporting the facility.
3 Replace the near-end module
supporting the facility.
4 Replace the far-end plug
supporting the facility.
5 Replace the far-end module
supporting the facility.
