380 Chapter 13
Custom Digital Modulation
Using the Real Time I/Q Baseband Generator
Configuring the Burst Rise and Fall Parameters
1. Press
Burst Shape > Rise Time.
2. Press 5.202 > bits.
3. Press
Rise Delay > .667 > bits.
4. Press
Fall Time > 4.8 > bits.
5. Press
Fall Delay > .667 > bits.
This configures the burst shape for the custom real-time I/Q baseband digital modulation format. For
instructions on creating and applying user-defined burst shape curves, see “Using Customized Burst Shape
Curves” on page 166.
Activating Differential Data Encoding
Press
Return.
Press
More (1 of 3) > Diff Data Encode Off On.
This activates differential data encoding for the current real-time I/Q baseband digital modulation format.
For more information, see “Differential Encoding” on page 180.
To generate and output the custom digital modulation, complete the steps in the following sections.
Generating the Waveform
Press
More (2 of 3) > More (3 of 3)
Press Custom Off On until On is highlighted.
This generates the custom real-time I/Q baseband waveform with the parameters defined in the previous
sections. During waveform generation, the CUSTOM and I/Q annunciators activate and the custom
waveform is stored in pattern RAM. The waveform is now modulating the RF carrier.
Configuring the RF Output
1. Set the RF output frequency to 500 MHz.
2. Set the output amplitude to 0 dBm.
3. Press
RF On/Off.
The custom real-time I/Q baseband waveform is now available at the signal generator’s
RF OUTPUT connector.
