GENERAL INFORMATION
Description
The Automated Manual Transaxle (AMT) control system is located on the transaxle housing. It consists of the fol-
lowing components:
The AMT is based on the traditional manual transaxle. The AMT is equipped with an electro-mechanical, hydraulic
control unit, thus incorporating an automatic five-speed transaxle.
Operation
The AMT electro-mechanical & hydraulic system is controlled by the AMT control module and Engine Control Module
(ECM). The gear position is determined by the gearshift lever.
Automatic Mode: The AMT control module performs gear changes according to a predetermined vehicle control
strategy.
Manual Mode: The driver controls the gear changes through the use of the gearshift lever.
