4.4.1 SELECTING A GROUP
When the CM4 display is blank or when a function is displayed, press down on the GROUP toggle
switch to view the name of the currently selected group. Once the current group name is displayed,
press down on the GROUP switch again to select the "next" group or press up to select "previous"
group.
4.4.2 DISPLAYING AND SETTING STANDARD FUNCTIONS
If the display is blank or shows a Group name, press down on the SET/NEXT Switch to display the
first function in the currently selected group. Once a function appears, press down on the SET/NEXT
switch again to display the next function in the group.
If the green part of the ON/OFF indicator to the right of the FUNCTION display is on, the currently
displayed function is ON. Pressing up on the SET/NEXT switch causes no status or setup changes.
However, if the red part of the ON/OFF indicator is on, pressing up on the SET/NEXT switch twice
turns that function on. Pressing up once causes the green part of the ON/OFF indicator to blink,
meaning that a setup change will take place if the SET/NEXT switch is pressed up again. Pressing up
on the SET/NEXT switch a second time causes the green part of the ON/OFF indicator to light
continuously. This means that the setup parameter has been changed to the currently-displayed setting.
For example, if the display shows ESF while frame format is set to SF, then pressing up on the
SET/NEXT switch once will cause the green part of the ON/OFF indicator to blink. Pressing up on the
SET/NEXT switch a second time will actually change the current T1 framing format from SF to ESF.
It is important to note that some setup functions are "mutually exclusive". That is, setting one function
will automatically "un-set" another. Examples include line code (you may set line code to AMI or
B8ZS but not both) and frame format (you may set frame format to SF or ESF but not both). Other
functions are not mutually exclusive. For example, CM4 Line and Equipment loopbacks in the LPBK
group can be active at the same time.
NOTE
As shown in Figure 4-2, when a CM4 module is installed in a chassis, the "down"
position of the GROUP and SET/NEXT toggle switches corresponds to the user's left,
while the "up" position corresponds to the user's right.
