2.3.8 CHANNEL MODULES
All payload circuits connect to IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexers through channel modules. RFL
offers a family of channel modules that support a wide range of circuit types: voice, synchronous and
asynchronous data, polling data, office-end/station end, and time slot access. A more detailed
discussion of channel module features and a summary of IMUX 2000 M-DACS channel module
configuration guidelines appears in Section 3 of this manual. Instruction Data sheets for all IMUX
2000 M-DACS channel modules appear in Sections 11 through 16 of this manual.
2.3.9 MODULE ADAPTERS
Each channel module must be used with a Module Adapter, either its own or one that is shared with
another channel module. The M-DACS shelf provides 13 rear-access Module Adapter slots (slots 6-
18), for the channel modules, one corresponding to each of the 13 front-access module slots. All
IMUX 2000 Module Adapters have the same connector on their front edge to mate with the back
plane. However, different Module Adapters have different rear edge connectors, providing a variety of
interfaces. (See Figure 2-26.)
