5.5 EXAMPLE OF CONFIGURING A NETWORK
5.5.1 INTRODUCTION
This section contains an example of how to configure a new network using the Network Management
Software. The example gives step by step instructions showing all windows and settings. The
information provided here will enable you to configure more advanced networks to suit your own
requirements.
5.5.2 STEPS REQUIRED TO CONFIGURE A NETWORK
See paragraph
1. Setup the hardware at each node including all cards, modems 5.5.3.1
and cables as required.
2. Connect the PC or laptop to the network either directly or remotely 5.5.3.2
using a modem or an ethernet module.
3. Start the IMUX 2000 Network Management Software from the 5.5.3.3
desktop.
4. Select NEW to start a new configuration. Complete the network 5.5.3.4
setup screen. Enter all communication path information.
5. Select the READ option. Then select Auto-configuration Method 3. 5.5.3.5
6. Select Network View. 5.5.3.6
7. Enter Display/Change Node window. For each node, add dumb cards, 5.5.3.7
settings for all cards, and program the DACS module maps as required.
8. Enter Network View window. Connect lines to nodes. 5.5.3.8
9. Use Network Write to configure the cards. When the writing is done 5.5.3.9
the program will return to the main menu.
10. Look at Difference Report 5.5.3.10
11. Use Poll For Alarms to look for errors. 5.5.3.11
12. Save Settings in a file 5.5.3.12
