RFL DA-121I
Seven Port Asynchronous Data Channel Module
DESCRIPTION
The RFL DA-121I is an Asynchronous Data Channel Module designed for use in RFL IMUX 2000
multiplexers. It converts asynchronous data to a format appropriate for multiplexing and transmission
over T1 or E1 lines. Data received is demultiplexed and restored as asynchronous data.
The RFL DA-121I can use up to seven RS-232 interface connectors for system operation. A channel or
combination provides transmit and receive capabilities over T1, E1, or other digital communication
systems at rates up to 1.2 Kbps. The module operates up to a maximum of 2.4 Kbps, depending on the
maximum jitter the equipment can tolerate. Up to seven 1.2 Kbps data channels can be supported by
one RFL DA-121I module. All seven channels together occupy one 64 kbps DS0 time slot. The DA-
121I automatically detects if the system is T1 or E1 and configures itself appropriately.
The DA-121I is remote-controllable when installed in an RFL remote controllable shelf. The following
module parameters can be configured remotely via SCB or locally via DIP switches. A DIP switch
setting will control whether the card is in remote or local mode.
o Selectable time slot assignment
o Channel associated signaling (CAS) enable/disable
o Selectable transmit/receive direction
o Module service enable/disable
o Remote or local loopback select
