2.3.4 COMMON INTERFACE ADAPTERS
Each M-DACS multiplexer must be equipped with an interface adapter to connect it to the T1 network.
There are three basic types of interface adapters, communication interface adapters, electrical interface
adapters and optical interface adapters.
2.3.4.1 COMMUNICATIONS I/O MODULE ADAPTERS (MA-235 & MA-240)
The Communications I/O module adapters (MA-235 and MA-240) are used for local communications
between the DACS module, the CM4, the channel modules, and a PC. Both modules use J1, a
shielded 6-position modular jack for external timing, and P1 a DB-9P male connector for RS-232
connections. The MA-240 module uses J3, a shielded 8-position modular jack for T1/E1 connections
at Port 7. Pinouts for these connectors are shown below. The MA-240 adapter is more commonly
used.
