4.11 SETTING M-DACS MULTIPLEXER NETWORK ADDRESS (ADDR
Group)
NOTE
If the remote access feature is not in use, or if a terminal is connected directly to a
single IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexer, it is not necessary to set up and use the
network address.
Each IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexer can be assigned a three-digit network address. This can be any
number from "001" to "500." Network addresses are used to distinguish the multiplexers connected by
a common network to a central controller. The central controller can be a human operator using a PC
or dumb terminal with a basic communications program, or, when available, a computerized network
management system which is compatible with the IMUX 2000 Series.
In such a network, all IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexers may receive every command issued by the
central controller. However, including the target multiplexer's network address in the command format
allows selection of only one multiplexer to respond to that command, if universal addressing is OFF
(See paragraph 4.13.5). Section 7 of this manual provides a detailed explanation of remote access and
control for the IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexers.
To view and, if desired, change the current network address of an IMUX 2000 M-DACS multiplexer:
1. Press up or down on the GROUP switch on the CM4 D/I-A one or more times until the display
shows "ADDR."
2. Press down on the SET/NEXT switch one time. The FUNCTION display shows the current
three-digit address of the multiplexer (for example, "001"). Also, the green part of the ON/OFF
indicator next to the FUNCTION display lights to indicate that the displayed address is the
current address.
3. If you do not
want to change the current address, either do nothing, or press down on the
GROUP switch to exit the ADDR group and perform some other setup operation.
If you do
want to change the current address, press down on the SET/NEXT switch a second
time to begin the address editing process. The display changes to show two digits slightly
reduced in size, with one digit underscored. For example, if the current multiplexer address is
001, then the display now shows "0
01."
At this point, each press down on the SET/NEXT switch causes the underscore to move one digit to
the right, and each press up on the SET/NEXT switch increments the currently underscored digit by
one. Using this process, change any or all digits to obtain the desired address. (Address 000 and 078
are reserved for system use; choose any other number from 001 to 500).
