When checking out an IMUX 2000 M-DACS system, follow these overall guidelines:
1. Start at the M-DACS multiplexer where the DACS module primary clock is internally or
externally timed (Master clock).
2. Perform the check-out procedures at locations in the order in which they appear in the system.
3. Test each location locally before performing system tests.
4. After performing the system-level tests described in this section, you may also wish to test the
individual circuits formed by the channel modules in the multiplexers. Consult the individual
channel module Instruction Data Sheets in Sections 11 through 16 of this manual for
recommended test procedures for each type of circuit.
The following procedures do not specify the use of T1 test equipment. However, you may need T1 test
sets in some instances, such as to isolate an intermittent trouble in either a T1 facility or a multiplexer.
7.3.1 M-DACS MULTIPLEXER AT LOCATION 1
NOTE
When you are facing the front of a M-DACS Shelf, the "up" position of the GROUP
and SET/NEXT toggle switches is to the right (away from the circuit board, and the
"down" position is to the left (toward the circuit board).
Use the following procedure to check out the M-DACS multiplexer, internally-timed multiplexer at
Location 1. It is assumed that this multiplexer is already installed, wired, and powered.
1. Verify that the CM4 modules in slot 4 is in the DI-A mode as follows:
a. Remove the CM4 module in slot 4 for a few seconds and then re-insert it.
b. Look at the display on the CM4 module.
The display should read "DIA".
Go to step 2.
Note: For the rest of this procedure, this module will be referred to as "CM4
Module A."
2. Verify that the CM4 modules in slot 5 is in the DI-B mode as follows:
a. Remove the CM4 module in slot 5 for a few seconds and then re-insert it.
b. Look at the display on the CM4 module.
The display should read "DIB".
Go to step 3.
Note: For the rest of this procedure, this module will be referred to as "CM4 Module B."
3. Verify that T1 line code and frame format are set up as required for both CM4s (TSEL group).
