RFL DA-291B Four-Port Asynchronous Data Channel Module

DESCRIPTION
This Instruction Data Sheet describes the setup and installation procedures for the DA-291B
Asynchronous Data Module. The DA-291B is a four-port data module, designed for use in Terminal
and Drop/Insert Multiplexers. The module provides transmission of one to four asynchronous data
channels over T1, E1 or other digital communications systems, with either an RS-232C or an RS-422
data interface. The maximum data rate is 38.4 kbps for one, two or four channel operation. The module
uses one to four time slots depending on the number of channels used and the data rates of the channels
being transmitted.
Each channel can be configured to use a different timeslot and direction. Timeslots on a common
direction can be shared based on the data rate.
User-adjustable switches and remote configuration commands allow the configuration of the following
parameters:
• SCB address
• Module enable
• Remote/Local configuration
• For each channel there are the following settings:
• Enable/Disable
• Data rate kbps (0.6, 1.2, 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4)
• Character format (9, 10, 11 bits including start/stop /parity)
• Time slot selection
• Data bus direction
• Timeslot start bit (0-7 to allow compatibility with third party V.110 devices)
• Data loopback (none, local, remote)
