4. Insert the Adapter Module into the rear of the shelf directly behind the module slot
where the DA-291B will be installed. Secure the module with the screws provided.
5. Connect the Adapter Module to the user equipment using the connector pin assignments
detailed in Tables 1A or 1B as applicable.
6. Refer to Figure 2 and Table 2 for the location of switches on the DA-291B.
7. On the DA-291B check the setting of DIP switch SW1-8.
SW1-8 sets the module to operate in 2 or 4-port operation set the switch to OFF
(default) for 2-port operation and ON for 4-port operation.
8. On the DA-291B check the setting of DIP switches SW10-1 thru SW10-4.
SW10-1 thru SW10-4 will enable channels 1 thru 4. Set to ON (DOWN) to enable
the required channel.
9. On the DA-291B check the setting of DIP switches SW11-1 thru SW11-8.
These dip switches will set the required channel to either local or remote when
loopback testing is employed, the default is OFF (UP). If loopback is required
refer to Table 5 on page 10 to set each channel.
10. On the DA-291B dip switches SW1-1 thru SW1-6 will set the SCB address.
Refer to table 6 on page 11.
11. On the DA-291B check that dip switch SW1-7 is set to the OFF position.
This switch is for factory use only.
12. On the DA-291B Dip Switches SW2 thru SW9 will set various parameters for up to four
channels of operation. Following are steps for setting Dip Switch SW2 (CH1), repeat these
steps for Dip Switch SW3 thru SW5 for channel 2 thru 4 as required.
Dip switch SW2-3 (TERM) will set the required channel to operate in either the
DI-A or DI-B ports. Set the switch to ON for the DI-A port to transmit on A and
receive on B in a drop/insert multiplexer or terminal multiplexer. Set the switch to
OFF for the DI-B port to transmit on B and receive on B in a drop/insert
multiplexer.
Dip switches SW2-4 thru SW2-8 are used for timeslot settings; refer to table 7 on
page 12.
Following are steps for setting dip switch SW6 (CH1), repeat these steps for Dip Switch SW7
thru SW9 for channel 2 thru 4 as required.
Dip switches SW6-1 thru SW6-3 are used to set baud rate; refer to table 8 on
page 13.
Dip switches SW6-4 thru SW6-6 are used to set the timeslot start bit; refer to
table 9 on page 13.
