RFL DS-TT Transfer Trip Module
For RFL IMUX 2000 Intelligent T1/E1 Multiplexers
(Includes MTS IRIG-B Synchronization Upgrade)
DESCRIPTION
The RFL DS-TT Transfer Trip Module is a bi-directional module designed for use in RFL IMUX 2000
multiplexers. This device is also referred to as the MTS module (Modular Teleprotection System).
It transmits and receives data via the T1/E1 serial link and generates and receives trip commands via
an I/O adapter module. The RFL DS-TT can support up to four bi-directional transfer trip functions
between two IMUX 2000 terminals, or can support DCB (Directional Comparison Blocking) in
addition to two transfer trip functions. These terminals can operate point to point between two IMUX
2000 terminal nodes in a network. These terminal nodes can be configured as point-to-point or drop
and insert terminals and can be installed at different locations in the network either at adjacent or
nonadjacent nodes. The RFL DS-TT module has eight LEDs on the front to indicate the condition of
the trip inputs and outputs.
NOTE
The RFL DS-TT module can also be used in RFL 9001 T1/E1 multiplexers, however, in this
application the DS-TT module can only be programmed using the RS-232 port. The RS-232
port is labeled J1 and is located near the front of the DS-TT module as shown in Figure 1.
When using the DS-TT module in IMUX 2000 T1/E1 multiplexers, the user must know the
CM3B software version.
If the CM3B software version is dated 3-11-96 or later, then the DS-TT module can be
programmed using either the Network Management Software as described in Section 7 of the
IMUX 2000 Instruction Manual, or SCL commands via the CM3B RS-232 port. See the
Remote Control Interface section of this instruction data sheet.
If the CM3B software version is dated before 3-11-96, then the DS-TT module can only be
programmed using the RS-232 port of the DS-TT module using SCL commands. The RS-232
port is labeled J1 and is located near the front of the DS-TT module as shown in Figure 1.
To determine the CM3B software version in your system, remove the CM3B module from the
multiplexer chassis and read the date of the software label on device U3. The date on this label
is the CM3B software version. The software label will be similar to the one shown below.
The RFL DS-TT works with all versions of CM3C, CM3R, CM4 or CM6 software.
