IMUX 2000

IMPLEMENTATION OF

REMOTE ALARM SIGNALING

INTRODUCTION.

RFL IMUX multiplexers and DACS utilize slightly modified forms of common

DS1-based signaling methods to transmit alerts between nodes. This

customization reflects the needs of primary target of RFL products:

teleprotection and communication circuits able to tolerate faults to a high

degree or able to rapidly reroute signals while maintaining symmetrical

paths (equal delays) in both directions.

This note describes current applications of UA1 (“Blue Alarm”) and RAI

(“Yellow Alarm”).
