7.1 General information about the configuring environment
Scope of delivery
The software, which interprets the configuration files for user interfaces and
provides/activates the functions described in previous chapters, is included in the
scope of delivery of the HMI software, along with an ASCII editor for creating the
content of the configuration files (program editor).
The names of the operating software packages that run on the basis of PCU20,
PCU50 and a PC with Windows NT have been redefined:
HMI Embedded runs on PCU 20 with:
OP 010
OP 010C
OP 010S
OP 0012
OP 015
HMI Embedded WIN32 on:
PCU50
PC with Windows NT
HMI Advanced on:
PCU50
PC with Windows NT
Products
ManualTurn, ShopMill and ShopTurn are based on HMI Embedded.
HMI Embedded WIN32 and HMI Advanced can be combined on a single hardware
platform. Thus, the operating systems of these products are available as
alternatives to HMI Advanced on a single hardware platform. The special
considerations for configuration and search methods for this case are described in
Section 7.4 HMI Embedded and HMI Advanced on a shared hardware platform.
Creating displays
If the configured screen forms are to include images, then a suitable graphics
program will be required. The following sections contain relevant system-specific
information.
Differences between systems
Hardware differences:
• HMI Advanced on PCU 50 has a hard disk
• HMI Embedded and HT6 on PCU 20 only have a user memory and a Flash
memory
• HMI Embedded WIN32 on PCU 50 or PC with Windows NT evaluates hard disk
configuration files but operates in the same way as HMI Embedded on PCU 20
in all other respects.
Because of these differences, data is handled differently when creating the
configuration files.
