CPICH [dBm]
The Common Pilot Channel is a downlink chan-
nel with a fixed bit rate of 30 kbps, it is coded
with a spreading factor of 256. The CPICH is
used for channel estimation and enables the UE
to equalize the channel in order to achieve a
phase reference with the Synchronisation Chan-
nel (SCH). Furthermore it allows estimations for
power control.
DPCH_Ec
[dB]
The Dedicated Physical Channel is used in UL
and DL to carry the DPDCH (Dedicated Physical
Data Channel) and the DPCCH (Dedicated Physi-
cal Control Channel).
The DPDCH transmits the user data whereas the
DPCCH transports the pilot symbols, the control
commands for fast power control as well as rate
information (TFCI, Transport Format Combina-
tion Indicator).
P-CCPCH_Ec
The Primary Common Control Channel trans-
ports synchronization and broadcast informa-
tion for users. Within a cell there is only one
P-CCPCH. It’s frame structure differs from the
downlink DPCH (Dedicated Physical Channel) in
that no TPC (Transmit Power Control) com-
mands, no TFCI (Transport Format Combination
Indicator) and no pilot bits are transmitted.
S-CCPCH_Ec
The Secondary Common Control Physical Chan-
nel carries the FACH (Forward Access Channel)
and the PCH (Paging Channel).
SCH_Ec [dB]
The Synchronization Channel is used for cell
search in DL. Furthermore it transmitts synchro-
nization information.
