2-6 Phaser 6125/6130 Color Laser Printer Service Manual
Theory of Operation
The negatively charged Drum surface is scanned by the laser beams to form
an invisible electrostatic latent image on the drum surface. The process is
performed in parallel for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black colors.
The area on the surface where the laser beam strikes becomes conductive.
The negative charge on the surface flows to the more positive drum, lowering
the voltage potential. In this way the surface areas exposed to the laser beam
become the electrostatic latent image.
