Table 47: Variable definitions
Variable Value
maxttl <value> The maximum time-to-live value (that is, number
of hops before the probe packet is dropped). The
trace ends when the destination is reached, or
when
the TTL value is reached, whichever occurs
first. Values are in the range 1 to 255. The default
value is 1.
minttl <value> The minimum time-to-live value (that is, the
minimum number of hops you want the packet to
make). Values are in the range 1 to 255.
portno <port> The destination port used by the UDP probe. The
default port number is 33434. You can enter a port
number in the range 1 to 65535.
probecnt <value> The number of probe packets to send. The default
value is 3. Valid values are in the range 1 to
65535.
proto {icmp | udp} The probe packet protocol. Enter either icmp or
udp. The default value is udp.
sipaddress <ipaddr> The source IP address for the probing packet.
Enter
the IP address in IPv4 format if you are using
the trace command. Enter the IP address in IPv6
format (the address prefix and IPv6 interface ID) if
you are using the trace6 command.
symdisp {on | off} The symbolic display toggle. Symbolic display is
either on or off (turn off symbolic display if you
prefer to have numeric display only). Symbolic
display is turned on by default.
timeout <value> Timeout value for the probe packet. Valid values
are in the range 1 to 3600 seconds. The default
value is 5 seconds.
<WORD> The target host name or IP address. There is no
default value.
The route table
The
system route table contains the best routes learnt through different protocols and includes
the connected and static routes. The route table is, therefore, the best place to find which
networks are reachable by the system.
