Changing the password
This procedure describes the steps necessary to change a password.
Procedure steps
To change a password, enter the following command and follow the prompts:
password
Password recovery
This section describes the available options when a password is lost.
There are two different scenarios for lost passwords. The first scenario deals with the loss of
the
Administrator password, while the second scenario deals with the loss of an regular, non-
admin user password.
Loss of non-admin user password
When a password for a non-admin user is lost, the only method of recovery is to remove the
affected account and recreate it using the following procedure:
Procedure steps
1.
Enter Configuration mode:
configure terminal
2. Remove the user:
no user <username>
3. Recreate the user:
user <username> level <2-4>
4. When prompted, enter the user password, up to 10 characters.
5. Repeat the password.

To delete/reset all non-admin user accounts on the system, use the command system
reset-to-factory users.
