Troubleshooting GVRP
This section details techniques used to troubleshoot GVRP problems.
Troubleshooting a configuration failure
GVRP will run only on trunk ports. Use the following steps to configure GVRP.
Enable GVRP globally.
/configure#gvrp
/configure/gvrp#gvrp-enable
By default GVRP is not enabled for the switch. You must first enable GVRP on the switch
before you can configure the trunk ports for GVRP operation.
Procedure steps
1.
Configure the port as trunk. Please refer to Avaya Secure Router 2330/4134
Configuration — Layer 2 Ethernet (NN47263-501) for information.
2. Configure the port GVRP:
/configure/interface/ethernet (6/1)#gvrp
/configure/interface/ethernet (6/1)/gvrp#gvrp-enable
GVRP must be configured on both sides of the trunk to work correctly.
3. Configure the port registration state (optional):
/configure/interface/ethernet (6/1)/gvrp#registration-state
[normal|fixed|forbidden]
By default GVRP ports are in normal registration mode. Please refer to Avaya
Secure Router 2330/4134 Configuration — Layer 2 Ethernet (NN47263-501) for
information.
4. Enable dynamic VLAN creation (optional):
/configure#gvrp
/configure/gvrp#dynamic-vlan-creation
