VLAN traffic not flowing
Check
whether all the ports in the spanning tree (common/internal) path are tagged ports that
support forwarding of specified tagged packet using the show bridge port command. Note
that, if all the switches are not in same region then the traffic will flow through common spanning
tree outside region.
Configuration fails with Can't set VID 90 to instance error message
Add a VLAN first, before associating with instance.
Troubleshooting an operational failure
Traffic looping
Check the states of spanning tree state machine using the show spanning-tree
detail
command. In the case the bridge is a root bridge all the links should be in Designated
Forwarding states. In the case the bridge is a non-root, only one link to the root bridge should
be in ROOT Forwarding state (others should be in Alternate Discarding) and other links (not
to the root bridge) should be in Designated Forwarding states. There should be only one Root
Port/Master Port per spanning tree.
